Barry Nolan has returned to his roots in Boston As the host of CN8 "Nitebeat," Nolan returns to the Boston / New England market to lead a compelling, 60-minute issues-oriented show featuring lively conversation, debate and roundtable discussions over New England news and current events. 

Prior to "Extra," Nolan served as co-anchor for the long-running newsmagazine "Hard Copy," a role
he held for seven years. During this time, Nolan received a LA Press Club Award.

A multi-Emmy Award-winning broadcast  journalist, Barry Nolan was a senior correspondent in "Extra’s" New York bureau. Entering into his third season with the show, Nolan brrought more than a decade of reporting experience. 

Throughout his career Nolan has anchored a number of television series and specials. For nine years, he
co-hosted the Boston-based syndicated news series "Evening Magazine." For his work on the show, he
won three Emmy Awards, as well as a Gabriel Award. In addition, Nolan anchored the Fox show "Beyond
Tomorrow" and the ABC primetime series "Over the Edge." Nolan began his broadcast journalism career
as a lifestyle correspondent for WNBC-TV’s "The Now! Show."

Prior to embarking on his broadcasting career, Nolan worked as a psychiatric social worker. A native of
Alexandria, VA, he holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Tennessee, and studied
neurophysiology and theater history as a postgraduate.

Trivia: While earning his degree at the University of Tennessee, Barry's room-mate was actor David Keith.
The dormitory that they stayed in is now part of the the University of Tennessee's now famous forensic
science lab known as the "Body Farm".
